REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — June 14, 2011: Sencha, the leading provider of HTML5 frameworks and tools for desktop and mobile application developers, has been has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the OnMobile Top 100 winners. Inclusion in the OnMobile 100 signifies leadership amongst its peers and the game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players. Sencha was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.
Sencha and other OnMobile Top 100 companies will be honored at AlwaysOn’s OnMobile event tomorrow at The Fox Theatre in Redwood City, Calif. The OnMobile two-day executive event features CEO presentations and high-level debates on how the top emerging mobile companies are creating new business opportunities in the hot, high-growth mobile market. At the event, Sencha CEO Michael Mullany is a panelist on a session titled “The Best & Brightest Enabling Technologies For Developers.”
“The mobile market is booming, as evidenced by top researchers, who are predicting that more smartphones will be shipped in 2012 than PCs, and there will be more mobile Internet users than PC Internet users by 2014,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “This explosive market is being driven by the companies that made this year’s OnMobile Top 100 list. We congratulate the OnMobile 100, a great list of companies that our editors believe represent some of the highest-growth opportunities in the private company marketplace.”
The OnMobile 100 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists, and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2011 list. A full list of all the OnMobile Top 100 winners can be found on the AlwaysOn website.
Web apps are game-changers for application development and deployment
Demand for Sencha open-source Web application frameworks and tools is being driven by two key trends in both business and consumer markets. Publishers, retailers and developers of consumer-facing apps are gravitating toward mobile Web technologies as a flexible solution for reaching mobile users on smartphones and tablets. This transition has been accelerated by the emergence of advanced, WebKit-based mobile browsers that embed the latest HTML5 technologies. In addition, many enterprises have begun to migrate their core enterprise applications from first-generation Web architectures to modern, single-page Web applications powered by the latest AJAX technologies. Enterprises and development firms are increasingly choosing Sencha tools and SDKs because of their ability to deliver faster development times and better user experiences on both the desktop and mobile devices.
“We are honored to be recognized by AlwaysOn, and to be invited to participate at the OnMobile event,” said Michael Mullany, CEO of Sencha. “Events such as OnMobile provide a much-needed forum for exploring the pressing issues and opportunities that confront today’s mobile developers, and provide an effective venue for connecting with customers, investors, and local talent.”
