Sencha vs ExtJs

I've tried to understand the direction of the framework. A reply on this forum emphasized the design of sencha to work on / for mobile devices with the consequence that only webkit browsers will be able to render properly.

On the other hand, extjs appears to take a background place, yet the sencha api is full of extjs components.

If sencha is for the mobile platform, what happens to extjs? What is the direction of the framework(s) and what is going to happen with the desktop?

ExtJS was a company which merged with jQTouch and Rahael to form Sencha. Now ExtJS is just a project under Sencha

Will they be merged? Will extjs components be retrofited for sencha mobile? Will sencha extend to the desktop so that you get "write once"? Will the extjs designer be handling sencha too?

From what I remember, Sencha Touch and ExtJS will remain separate projects. The webinar that Sencha had this past week someone asked if the designer will support Sencha Touch. They said when they get around to it.

Sencha Touch and ExtJS share a lot of similarities so moving from one to the other won't take much at all.
