Grid with fields in headers

Hi,

I would like to create a grid with fields in a header, triggering all kind of actions, and I didn't find any extensions that allows to do so. Here is an image of what il would like to have.

Is there any extension to do something like that ?
if there's no one, wich might be the case, is it simple to extend a class ? Do you have any suggestion of readings to extend a class ?

There is a header filter user extension that puts fields for filtering in the header, but it can't do column grouping.
