hi all,

I want to develop a web application which will run on iphone using sencha touch.
and I want a a separate icon on iphone for that web application.
will it be possible through sencha technology ?
or will it be done by iPhone internal tool ?

Thanks in advance..

Yes. In the browser when you tap "+" to bookmark a site, there's a button that says "Add to Home Screen".

That will create a shortcut with an icon of that page. But is it possible to have some particular image for that shortcut ?

Absolutely. Check out the available options of Ext.setup. http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/touch/docs/?class=Ext&member=setup
In particular icon or phoneIcon.

Yes, you need a 57x57 pixel PNG. See "How Do I... Create a Home screen icon for my website or web application?" at : http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#codinghowtos/mobile/userExperience/index.html

I believe the Ext.setup() function also lets you set an 'icon' property that does the same thing, check the doc.s

Thanks everyone for the reply. It worked with Ext.setup()

One more question on this:
I want this icon with a real time number (which will be fetched from database). I am using oracle database and java for server side coding.
My problem is when i hit that icon then i will be login in the application. then how can i have that number before entering in the application itself.

thanks in advance..

Thanks.

iPhone and Blackberry has a push SDK for their native applications.
I want to use of push-based sync which will allow web apps to receive data updates near realtime AND insures that battery life is not drained on the devices due to the need to constantly poll.
is it possible to have web application with push-based sync using Sencha Touch Framework.

Thanks in advance.

No native push notifications for web apps, Sencha or not

I thought it was possible using phoneGap + http://www.easyapns.com/ and some js function.
Someone talk about this here :
http://phonegap.lighthouseapp.com/projects/20116/tickets/9-iphone-push-notification

maybe some more googling/thinking and it might be possible :)

I am a "MS environment" web/ app developer. This is my first time with iPhone, am using Sencha Touch. In connection to the above qouted message, is there any script that will do this bookmarking automatically? Like we do in MS environment "Book Mark this page".

If you are using Java server side you could try DWR it has "reverse ajax".
