It would be great to be able to download nightly builds of the library with all the current bug fixes and updates instead of waiting for subsequent official releases. This would benefit both the core developers and regular users (who do not have the privilege of SVN access).

It seems to me, that it is common politic - to give access to new versions only for premium members.

There are tons of same threads. Pre-release code is accessible only to premium members. That's what Ext live from.

Yes, that's how it is. But, Ext could benefit from an expanded audience for testing/verifying the new fixes and updates in addition to the premium members (I think a lot of the bug reports are from regular users too). It also lessens the number of redundant bug reports when most likely they've already been fixed in the SVN. It's understandable that paying members get special privileges but since the exact same library is being distributed to the public, why not just release it regularly?

Well, it's still Ext's prerogative. I'm just an enthusiast anyway. :D

If you go back and look at our early licensing discussions (~March 2007) we discussed different models for allowing us to keep the code open source and FREE for those who choose to use it under the LGPL, but still allow us to support ourselves and work on it full time. Paid support (including SVN access) was one of the ways that we decided, with the community's backing, to do this. Everyone else has been pretty happy with that compromise so far, so it's not likely to change anytime soon.
