Panel darkens before animation

I'm using a slide animation, when the animation begins the first card darkens. I can't find where this is set or how to change. Sorry if this is a noob question, I've read the getting started docs, api, etc. but can't find answer. Is it an overlay fading up or something?

FYI: I'm using the setCard method to switch cards. First card switch is done from button handler.

I solved my issue, the problematic card was a List, I added the list to a Panel and used the panel as the card, which handled the animation better and got rid of the black overlay/fade.
