Bug? mask on tapping a bottom tabbar tab label

I'm seeing some odd behavior where if you tap a bottom tab anywhere but on the tab label it works fine. If you tap the label itself on the bottom tab, the tab switched correctly but there is a small flicker where a mask is applied to the whole panel. On further investigation, if I tap and hold on the label, it often produces a mask on the whole panel until I release.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I have tried reverting all my style changes to the standard library and it still happens.

to follow up, I tried removing the label from the tab and it still happens when tapping the bottom of the tab. This only appears to happen on an ios device or simulator. Not in a desktop browser.

The plot thickens... the problem only appears when I have a Map loaded into the TabPanel. Could this be caused by the google map?
