View Full Version : [OPEN] [TOUCH-180] Blackberry Torch crashes editing a textbox

- open BlackBerry (Torch) browser and go to kitchensink example http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/touch/examples/kitchensink/
- select User Interface / Forms
- try to insert some text with the on-screen keyboard: the browser crashes

On the other hand, if you enter text using the sliding keyboard, all works fine.

Hey guys, you made it! I've just tested the new 1.1.0 release and it's great! It runs smooth in my Torch and also the time picker component runs quite good. Really good job!

There's only one bug left to solve: again, if you try to edit the text form in the kitchenSink example with the on-screen (touch) keyboard, the browser crashes.

thanks!
carlo.

I have the same problem. Anyone aware of any workaround?

Do you think this problem is related to senchatouch.js or the RIM side?

We are also experiencing the same bug on Sencha Touch 1.1.0 with a Blackberry Torch running OS6 (695).

It seems Sencha Touch specific since I'm not able to reproduce it using a simple HTML form.

Sencha Touch version tested:

1.1.0

only default sencha-touch.css

Platform tested against:

iOS 3.x
iOS 4
Android 2.2
Blackberry 6 (Torch)

Description:

Editing a text input causes the Blackberry browser to crash, opening the start screen.

Test Case:

Ext.regApplication({
name: 'Form',
launch: function() {
var formPanel = new Ext.form.FormPanel({
items: [
{
xtype: 'fieldset',
defaults: {
labelAlign: 'left',
labelWidth: '20%'
},
items: [
{
xtype: 'emailfield',
name : 'email',
label: 'Email'
},
{
xtype: 'textfield',
name : 'emailtext',
label: 'Email (text)'
}

]
}
]
})

this.viewport = new Ext.Panel({
id: 'viewport',
fullscreen: true,
layout: 'card',
items: [
formPanel
]
});
}
});

Compare to:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
<title>Form</title>
</head>
<body>
<form>
<label for="email">Email</label>
<input id="email" type="email" name="email" autocapitalize="off">
</form>
</body>
</html>

See this URL : http://http://widgetbox-test.s3.amazonaws.com/bb-form/index.html

Compare with: http://widgetbox-test.s3.amazonaws.com/bb-form/form.html

Steps to reproduce the problem:

Enter characters into either text field.

The result that was expected:

Able to complete entering text in a textfield or emailfield

The result that occurs instead:

Approximately 4 or 5 characters in the Blackberry browser start page opens.

Debugging already done:

Compared to a simple HTML form, the simple HTML form works as expected.

I also have this bug too. Surprised that in all this time no workaround has been found!

This feature is mission critical for something I'm working on, so I'll post back when/if I find a workaround.

The only workarround I found was to use a password field instead. Not very elegant but it works and I had to come up with some solution.

anyone got a workaround that doesn't involve having to tell your blackberry users to pull out their keyboard (some of them don't have keyboards!)
