ExtJS and JSON

Im trying to find out what sort of functionality ExtJS has for working with JSON Data, is it possible to pass a JSON Object to the ExtJS Grid Object to simply create a Grid or have i got a little confused with just how much ExtJS will do for us :)

Sorry if this is such a foolish question im still attempting to figure out just how much power ExtJS has.

There are plenty of examples of using JSON with grids, a brief search of the forum, or even the examples section of the documentation.
