View Full Version : [1.1.1] Layout collapse/expand glitch in Firefox

I've seen this behavior in Firefox 1.5 on Linux and Firefox 2.0 on Mac. It does not happen in Safari.

Go to the Complex Layout example and collapse the east panel. When the panel is collapsed, the sidebar (or whatever that collapsed view is called) slides in 1 pixel too low and then pops back up. When the panel is expanded, it slides out one pixel too low as well, then pops up when it reaches its full extension.

I first noticed this in my own app (using the Vista theme), but the example app does it as well. Both look fine in Safari.

Same issue in Firefox 2 on Windows and FF 1.5 on Linux.

IE doesn't glitch on the east (Auto Tab) panel like FF, but there's an odd jog on the Documentation Explorer panel when it expands at the end like FF.

just FYI, IIRC, FF1.5 isn't on the list of supported browsers ;)

thanks for the report though. we'll take a look at it.

verified this issue on FF2.0.0.7 on WinXP SP2. can't spot the problem reported with IE though.

Funny... I do a lot of development in 1.5, and you might as well support it for as many issues as I've seen. :-D

As far as IE goes, what happens is the panel goes all the way to the top, but the collapsed bar has a border of a few pixels. When the panel slides out, it slides out at the top, and the bar slides in a few pixels below. This doesn't look bad at all. But when the panel is expanded again, it slides in at the same level as the collapsed bar, then at the end it jogs up so it's flush with the top again. Maybe that's intended, but it looks weird to me.

B) << i'm blind. *lol*

p.s. FF1.5 has already reached the end of the road (http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/index.php/2007/04/24/whats-happening-with-mozilla-firefox-15/). ;)

This is mostly fixed in 2.0RC1, except that the East panel does a little one pixel jog upon collapse when the collapsed bar comes in from the right.
