Try to search "How to get an element" or "is not a function"...
The search term you specified (to) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.

Whu ExtJS forum has stupid searsh engine?
You might want to ask the developers of VBulletin that question as they are the ones who wrote it :)
I always use the Google search myself, as Mystix kindly pointed out. It works great.

I wanted to ask this very question since a long time ago... OK, now that someone else has asked it, I'll add my 2 cents: is it possible (and practical) to lower VBulletin's minimum word length (currently set to 3)? Common terms used in this forum --such as IE, js, etc-- are below the current minimum, and that makes them unfindable. Of course, using Google that's not a problem, but I'm just wondering if this particular installation of VBulletin can be configured a bit more adequately to our daily information needs.
Anyway, props to Jon and any others involved in keeping all this working! :)

It's set to 3 for performance reasons. The VB search performance impacts the forums in general. Google search is unrelated and optimized by the geniuses in Mountain View. Generally, stick with the Google search for complex search phrases.

If your vB is set to use "vB internal search" (not mysql fulltext) there's an option "Words to be Included Despite Character Limit".
Google is not a replacement, you can't limit it to certain forums or thread age etc. It's still a good option if nothing was found.

I tried every search listed here and all worked without a problem. e.g.
"TreeNode has no properties"
"is not a function"
The key is to actually put them in the quotes so it is matching a phrase, not trying to match "a" or "the".
