Setting a "mode" property, as documented in the DataView and subclasses is really not very helpful and is against self-documenting code.
What type of mode is it? Obvious to me that it's selection model mode, but when someone is new to the framework, "mode" is a bit ambiguous and should be changed to something that is much more meaningful.
I know you guys are working hard to trim space, but please don't do so at the expense of people learning the 2.0 framework.
