I have a pre-existing application that uses Spring MVC to return a Model Map of data and display in an html table. I would like to convert the table to use EXT JS4 Grid Panel. Is there an easy way to tell EXT JS4 to take the HTML table and use it to create a Grid Panel?

I don't want to go through all the trouble of creating an EXT JS 4 Controller and use a proxy to the URL, etc....

The jQuery Datatables library currently does this but I am having issues so I am looking for an alternative.

Like this:

So i was able to create a Grid Table from the existing HTML Table. The problem I have now is that I am unable to obtain the data from the currently selected row. What I want to do is get the data from the first column of the selected row. I tried this (as well as many other variations):

var sm = serialTable.getSelectionModel();
var selectedRecord = sm.getLastSelected();

I actually have the record in selectedRecord but have been unable to get the data from the first column. How do I do this?
