View Full Version : Cannot index minified ExtJS files in Eclipse or Aptana

it took me some time to find out that both Eclipse and Aptana get stuck when trying to index or read newly copied CSS files from ExtJS. (ext-all.css, ext-all-gray.css, ...)
The problem seems to be because these files are minified to one line.
I use Linux Ubuntu 32-bit and my CPU goes more than 100% forever and I have to kill Aptana/Eclipse.
I have already tried to fix it by deleting project settings, clean project... nothing helped. Only trimming the minified files (200.000 chars) to only say 200 char, then it works.
Any solutions?

This is a known/unfixed problem in Eclipse. One semi-solution is to increase the min/max JVM heap size used by Eclipse. Here's what my Eclipse.ini file looks like, noting the -Xms and -Xmx settings at the end:

-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.2.0.v20110502.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.1.100.v20110502
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
384M
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
384m
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms90m
-Xmx512m

Thanks for the answer.
I could not solve it, so I switched to Netbeans. It can handle it.

you can also try to disable the javascript analyzer syntax checker or whatever in the build properties - this tool is known as buggy for a long time now... or you choose the better way and choose a better ide ;) - i would suggest IntelliJ IDEA by the way ;)
