View Full Version : Make a collapsible panel float always

I have added two panels to a viewport that has a border layout. The first panel is added to the 'center' region and the second panel to the 'south' region. There is a splitter between the two panels and the south panel is collapsible. According to the Ext JS 4 docs, it appears the only way to float the collapsible panel is to collapse it, then click its placeholder. This works fine, but I was wondering if there is a way to make the south panel float by default.

If the south panel is always floating, than this wouldn't be a border layout anymore?

OK. Then what type of layout would work best to create the effect that happens when you float a collapsible panel?

Well, a floating panel is just an Ext.window.Window. So, you could stick with a border layout and have the south region be an empty panel. Than just constrain your window to be the boundaries of the empty south panel? I am not sure if this is a desirable effect for you or not.

Otherwise, you may want to look at something like this...
