Way to prevent card switch in tab panel?

In Touch 1 we listened to tabpanel.beforecardswitch and returned false to cancel the card switch. I can't figure out how to do this in 2. Is it still possible?

Listen to activeitemchange and return false. You do need to make sure the order is before as it may default to after depending on where you are listening to it.
