Swaping Tab Panels

I have a need to swap tab panels (lots of them) between regions. Swapping them is not the problem (fairly simple).

I would like to have a visual indicator for the swap on the tab itself very similar to the close button.

If someone could point me in the direction of how to accomplish this I would be most geatful
