A small contribution to the community.
This was a very quick and simple app based on the example by Pristine aka Antony
it uses an iframe that points at a google gadget.
it works with the 12-20-2007 version of the desktop 2.0 (http://extjs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10950).
You can use it as template to insert ANY google gadget, that means we have x application on the fly.
Have fun

Not to be a killjoy... but to me... loading google gadgets into iframes is not the way to go.
I know this is a quick solution to adding an application to the desktop. But time needs to be spent on actually creating apps... Which, hopefully is your plan for the long term.
Actually, the underlying concept might prove useful if the module was expanded upon to support any number of external applications. If the iframe attributes were database table columns and each iframe were assigned an id and name, then you could mimic something like the tools menu in an IDE or Editor. The tools menu could be populated using a database query.
From an administration point of view in the context of a Tools api, it might be useful for displaying an external application like phpMyAdmin, a log file, benchmark tool, or an external editor in the desktop. It could also prove useful as a workaround solution for displaying an external application until one has time to port the application over to the desktop.
