jMaki is an interesting project backed by the Java development team. From their site, "jMaki is a framework that provides a lightweight model for building Ajax enabled web applications using standards-based technologies. jMaki allows you to use widgets from popular toolkits."

They have provided initial support for Ext in the form of some wrappers around a few of our widgets, allowing them to drop right into a jMaki application. At this time, they only have a few wrappers and it is for Ext 1.x, BUT, it is still a good start and could be really useful for anyone wanting to use the two frameworks together.

Carla Mott's (jMaki team) blog post about it (http://weblogs.java.net/blog/carlavmott/archive/2007/12/jmaki_wrappers.html)

if anyone is interested in learning more, or possibly contributing to the effort to build more wrappers or build 2.0 wrappers, I would encourage you to contact the jMaki team and let them know. Here is the forum post (http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=34754&tstart=0) on their site.

jMaki is definitely an interesting project, with their newly added support for Ruby I've thought about taking a more in depth look.
