What is the purpose of the Ext._startTime property as set (to new Date().getTime()) at the very top of ext-all(-debug).js? It's not used internally so it's usage must be intended to be external, but for what?

I think it just marks the start time of an ext application.

I think it just marks the start time of an ext application. All you've done is state what it does, which is readily apparent. What is the purpose though: what use case was envisioned?

Ext JS Page Analyzer (http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-1/#!/guide/performance-section-2) use it along with Ext._beforeReadyTime, Ext._afterReadytime, Ext._readyTime, Ext._endTime to analyze and measure the performance of an application. You can also use it for your own purpose.
