I've been playing around with the desktop (Jack/Mxracer/Ytorres/etc) and had some successes. I've found its good for integrating disparate sites written by others. In a sense it creates a nice little wrapper around related business processes. WheN possilbe I used Ext for the individual modules but this isn't always an option, inheriting legacy apps, sites developed by others etc.... If Ext isn't an option, I've used the ManagedIFrame ux (hendricd) succesfully to integrate. One thing I really like about the Desktop is isolating the functial areas into modules and plugging them into the overall framework. I especially like the AutoConfig Grid (Joris) and other UX items out there. Thanks to the community. This is an Alpha release but I thought I'd put it out there so Extrs can have a look. Its' all C#/ .Net 2.0/ Asp.Net Ajax and JSON. The GIS mapping is ESRi's ArcServer and VirtalEarth.

Hi Brendan,
Good work! This is a great example of what the desktop is capable of, integrating information systems in a easy to use environment.

Now can you make the "applets" aware of each other? ;)

Cheers
Thomas

I'm working on the integration piece now. If all works as planned, you should be a share data between the spatial search engines (MS Virtual Earth, GIS Mapping) and the document manager and query tools. All of the components will be linked to provide a suite of tools for a particular business process. Sharing odf the data between subsystems in a key component. I'm also working on a scheduling component so end-users willl know when maintenace of a particular facility is required, including alerts, tracking and assigning tasks for said maintenance.
