if you read the whole article, you guys will see a frustrated dojo forum poster that rebuild its app using yui-ext.
here's their new app: http://oreports.com/blog/2006/12/05/ajax-report-viewer/

I found Dojo to be like a closed book when I tried to do a few things with it. I'm an avid source reader, and I couldn't make head or tail of it - the structure is so convoluted.
I couldn't get anything to work.

My big problem with dojo was the incompletness of their widgets.
Everything was 80% done. Nothing worked well enough for me to use them right out of the box.
I would have had to spend a ton of time finishing all of the widgets so that the user experience would be acceptable.
With ext, everthing was way better than I could have ever hoped to do myself. The ext widgets out of the box well exceeded all of my expectations.
I am a quality over quantity guy anyway. I would rather have a framework that has several solid widgets than one that is full of buggy half implemented widgets.
To be honest, I can't see how anyone would choose to develop in another framework after seeing ext. It is soooooo! much nicer than the others.
On that note, I must once again thank Jack and all of the other contributers for your tireless work.
this ext stuff is pretty addictive....

Thanks for sharing simeon. I saw part 1, but I never saw part 2. The dojo thread is particularly interesting!

Hi everyone,
My company is currently heavily vested into Dojo use, but its propensity to slow down as the versions increment is having us consider other options. A post on Ajaxian about a new Prototype 1.5.1RC which has some marked speed increases, followed by a post about EXT supporting Prototype, makes for a compelling package.
Downloading the EXT source to take a look, I see an 'include order' file that lists:
Your include order should be:
Prototype (1.5+) / Scriptaculous (1.7+)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
prototype-1.5.0_rc1-nowhitespace.js.gz (12kb)
scriptaculous.js (3kb)
ext-prototype-adapter.js.gz (5kb)
ext-core.jz.gz (22kb)
That's correct? Has anyone here switched from Dojo to something akin to the above? Do widgets load in the same manner as Dojo widgets do? What about deferred loading and the like?
Appreciate any insight.
Alex
