i noticed that my dev machine came to a crawl whenever i have an initially empty grid.
FF consumes nearly 99% cpu / IE7 takes about 50% unless it fetches at least one record.

btw, i noticed this only occurs when the "autoExpandColumn" option is set!

I noticed this today. My grid is running 99% cpu with autoExpandColumn set. It seems like it is doing it no matter what # rows are returned. I take autoExpandColumn off, cpu is normal.

This is fixed in the trunk. In fact autoExpandColumn got a refactor and is much more powerful.
