Darrell,

I guess its early days, but have you started any discussions with the guys at Instantiations?
http://www.instantiations.com/gwtdesigner/index.html

Their GWT Designer product was looking good until recently... I guess they are waiting till something stable comes out of the myGWT/gwt-ext past... which I clearly think is ExtGWT.

Anywho, have you had any thoughts about this?

Cheers,
Grant

Yes, we started using this early on as well. But now would love to see support for ExtGwt!

I am resurrecting this thread because I am evaluating the exact same thing and am curious if anyone else has had experience along these lines since this was posted. Instantiations alludes to this topic in this sticky thread:

http://www.instantiations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1719

but their position is a bit ambiguous. Anyone have any ideas on this topic?

By the way, there is also a Netbeans plugin for GWT.

That thread from Designer is about the GXT-EXT library, which is a completely different thing. A close collaboration between Designer and GXT would be great though. I don't see that happening any time soon, as the Designer barely works with the standard widget library, and GXT doesn't seem to have that much development people so that they can spare a few to do the work on the designer. They probably need everybody working on the API itself.

this is not correct. they explicitly state by the end of the thread:

No. EXT GWT requires a substantial amount of custom edit-time support. We plan to add support for it later this year.

Those are a handful of posts on page 8. The thread is about the GWT-EXT library mainly.

Sorry, I really should have linked directly to the relevant posts at the end. I realize the thread started about the other product, that's why I said "allude" since it was only touched upon briefly.

Anyway, they seem to have slipped their schedule a bit (from "summer" to "end of year") but still have Ext in mind from the last entry in the thread:

We haven't started working on EXT-GWT yet, but do hope to work on it later this year.

Support for GWT 1.5 required an almost complete re-write of the product internals so that consumed several months of development time.
