With IE6, we see blue background behind tree icons.
And when you pass the mouse over an item or you select it, you can also see some blue glitch at the bottom of the rectangle.
Quick sample :

public void onModuleLoad(){
final Viewport viewport = new Viewport();

Tree tree = new Tree();
TreeItem root = new TreeItem();
tree.getRootItem().add(root);
root.setText("My tree");
root.add(new TreeItem("My item 1"));
root.add(new TreeItem("My item 2"));
viewport.add(tree);
RootPanel.get().add(viewport);
}

Sorry, I didn't know this problem. I have just taken a look on some sites, it looks like that bug. Anyway, I think I'll tell my customers to use FF3, which greatly improves performance.

you could simply change the css to use gif instead of png and convert the tree elements to gifs. Then the problem is gone (and won't hurt that much if the background color is white anyway :)

The png issue I think only impact IE6 I believe, so IE7 and FF2 etc should be fine.
