Hi,
Like all of us I'm completely wowed by Ext and using it means that the commercial software-as-a-service app I'm developing totally blows away its nearest competitor. Thank you so much to Jack and the whole community here.
My understanding of the licensing situation is that commercial use is fine with the LGPL but a purchased license is 'recommended' in the sense of social obligation - and my intention has always been (well 'always'=the two weeks I've spent learning Ext) to purchase a license once I have some cashflow coming in to my new business.
However I've been watching for the Forms stuff, and I've just seen this morning's screenshots and I'm absolutely gagging for it now. I realise it's not ready yet but I really want to see the code in progress.
I'm ready to pay for a commercial license from the money I do have now - but it doesn't look like a 1-developer license at $189 (for now) includes SVN access. I don't want Premium Support - Ext is better documented than almost any library I've used before, even megabucks ones, and determined use of the forum search answers just about any question (that's why this is my first post in two weeks of learning!).
So my question boils down to:
1) Does a commercial license include SVN access? I don't think it does.
2) Could it please do so in future (preferably before April 15th)
I want to support Ext and I can justify paying $189 but I can't justify $249 after April 15th. I certainly can't justify $299 on top of that just for SVN access. Maybe the 'a la carte' concept could be extended so that it could be added as a 'side dish' to the commercial license? Maybe a $199 special offer, good for today only? :D
In practice of course I'm not expecting you to say yes to that - but it doesn't hurt to ask! If my only option to get SVN access is the $299 support contract then I will just have to wait for the next beta release.
Thanks again, and please be assured that I don't mean to come accross as either impatient or miserly, I'm just a man trying to earn some money for my family and I need to manage what money I do have very carefully - at least until I hit paydirt!
Thanks
Matt Saunders
