Javascript Mapping API

I work in the mapping world and a client-side drawing package is essential, enabling drawing polygons, line, points etc... In fact, one of the major players in the field has recently released a Javascript API which could work well with Ext. Sadly, they've bundled Dojo into thier Api and of course it blows. What I would love to see is an extension that can match dojox.gfx. According to their dev. team its one of the primary reasons they adopted Dojo and I really have no answer for that. They are getting lots of traction, however, and I'd love to see Ext steel some of the thunder and show what a robust library is capable of. Perhaps, though, Ext's license isn't compatible with their commercial endeavors. What I would like to do is create a wrapper mapping panel (i.e. GMapPanel) using their API w/o and Dojo which would help make my case.
