It looks very nice. The slider will be very useful. But I won't have time to test. Still have a lot of job on my 1.2 based application. By the way, I hope we will have some stabilization effort after 2.0.

Hi Darrel,

would be great to have a pre release as soon as possible for having a look at the improvements implemented in the GXT 2.0. I have several problems which might be fixed there.

So that's the point which makes it important for me to get a release.

Great! I hope the widgets in the screenshots are the top of the iceberg.. :D After all, the version number is going to grow to 2.0

Besides that, i wonder when GWT or GXT will support server-push functionality.

14 Apr 2009, 9:02 AM
@Rvanlaak

For now you can use gwteventservice (http://code.google.com/p/gwteventservice/) for server push. It works really well, although the initial example is a bit hard to follow. We use it and are really happy with it.

Ktelford:

Thnx! It looks really great. Loads of Google Code projects don't have such a wiki. In the wiki I've read that the client Timeout Listener is partly done. Does that mean the library isn't completely well reconnecting on timeout?

Hi everyone.... Congratulations for this fantastic UI Library ;)

I have a question:

Yes it is.

You're saying that GXT2.0 was built on top of GWT1.6. So GXT2.0 M2 does already support the new event handler system of GTW1.6?... I'm saying that because it seems that GXT1.0 do not support it....

Now that you have created Buffered Grid, I would expect it to be fairly easy to implement Live Grid :-) Is there any chance to see Live Grid in 2.0 or 2.1?

There are many people here hoping to see Live Grid soon. I would use it straight away, together with a search/filter field.

Hello everyone...

First, sorry my broken english :)...
I have a question...
How can I create a vertical Toolbar? Since the API does not provide any function for this I thought that if I, for instance, create 5 buttons inside the ToolBar and set ToolBar size to (50, 300), it estimated internally the available space and convert itself to a vertical toolbar.... but this is not truth...

Someone can help me?

Thanks a lot...

Hi, i test this new version of GXT 2.0 M3 and i think, events are really slow.
Previously i used GWT Ext and on my Eee pc everything works really fast (in IE6 too). But when i try this new version of Ext GWT events are slow especially button mouse over event and button click event when dialog is draw first time.

Will be available faster version of GXT soon or not.

Ext GWT 2.0 RC1 is now available (release notes (http://extjs.com/deploy/gxt-2.0-rc1/release_notes.html)). This will be the final release before 2.0 is officially released. If you wish to take advantage of our pre-release (http://extjs.com/store/gxt/) sale you should act quickly as 2.0 will be released soon.

Demo is running here (http://extjs.com/examples-dev/explorer.html#overview).

Ext GWT RC2 is now available (release notes (http://extjs.com/deploy/gxt-2.0-rc2/release_notes.html)).

From newsletter:

We are pleased to announce the availability of Ext GWT 2.0 RC2 (http://extjs.com/forum/../products/gxt/download.php). We have been very busy since RC1 fixing bugs (see below) to ensure 2.0 is a rock solid release. Because of the amount of changes and bug fixes we have made since RC1, we have decided to release RC2 and delay the 2.0 release to next Monday, July 6th. For those expecting 2.0 today, we apologize, but felt this delay was needed as we did not want to release 2.0 before it is 100% ready.

Demo is running here (http://extjs.com/examples-dev/explorer.html#overview).

Nice job, Darell and all the team !

Also, I'm glad to see the new roadmap (http://extjs.com/products/gxt/roadmap.php). Especially :
ARIA/Section 508 accessibility improvements
Strict doctype support
Fully Chrome and Safari 4 support
Ext GWT ManualThat leads me to think that the project is going stable and is entering in a consolidation stage. I don't know about 2.0 release (didn't test it for know) but I expect 2.1 release to be the most solid of all releases.

We are also waiting for 2.0.2. Some IE bugs marked FNR keep us wondering whether to revert to 1.2.x for the first release. Is there a public release schedule or simply 'when it is ready'?

I changed back to 2.0.0 because the main thing I hated about 2.0.1 was the fileupload not working correctly.

However 2.0.1 fastmap and fastset can be used so I went to 2.0.1 again. I am wondering when will 2.0.2 come out.

Hi,

I'm the software architect in my firm and i've been evaluating GXT for the last couple of months. I was impressed and pleased with it, so I talked with the managers so that they could start the process of purchasing a license for 5 developers.

I've been working with GXT 2.0.1 & GWT 1.7.1 without any problems. Today I tried to upgrade the GXT version to 2.1.0 and my project doesn't compile anymore. I tried some other chages to: GXT 2.0.1 & GWT 2.0 seem to work with the exception of a reduced visibility problem on a method in Component class (wich I worked around), but GXT 2.1.0 & GWT 2.0 (or GWT 1.7.1) doesn't work at all. I get a lot of compile errors when I run the GWT compiler (as you can see in the attachement to this reply).

Do I realy have to use GWT 1.6? This is a long gone version of GWT. I am worried.
Is there someting I'm missing?

Thanks in advance

tbenbrahim

I think I did the same thing you did (got reduced visibility error, etc...)

Make absolutely sure everything matches, and everything will be fine

gxt resources, jars in WEB-INF/lib, jars in classpath of Java and GWT compilers, jars used to launch devmode.

I converted a small 6000 LOC project from GWT 1.7/GXT 2.0.1 to GWT 1.7/GXT 2.1.0 to GWT 2.0/GXT 2.1.0 in the last two weeks, and every error I ran into was because of mismatches.

It's really worth it, browser hosted development mode in 2.0 rocks (especially in Firefox)

Tony

Ext GWT 2.1 is compatible with GWT 2.0. We have been monitoring the earlier releases of GWT 2.0 to making to ensure the Ext GWT code worked with GWT 2.0.

However, there is one change that you will need to make to use GWT 2.0. See the following post (http://www.extjs.com/forum/showthread.php?p=412673) which describes the change you will have to make to run GWT 2.0 with GXT 2.1.

Ext GWT 2.X will continue support for both GWT 1.7 and GWT 2.0. Ext GWT 3.0 will only support GWT 2.0+ and will take advantage of the new features in GWT 2.0.
