View Full Version : Buyout of Emprise Charts
You (Ext) should consider buying out a little company called Emprise that makes a javascript charting solution. This would allow creating charts without requiring Flash to be installed. It seems that active development is slowing down on their end so it would be the ideal time to grab them up!
They do have an active community but they are getting fed up at their lack of customer service. The EJS community would applaud any move by Ext to merge the product into ExtJS 3.x! There are also many extensions created to integrate their charts into ExtJS.

hrm....
Their main page at emprisecorporation.com looks like it hasn't been updated since 2007. The charts page at ejscharts.com has an active community but no active development. We need a solution that is pure javascript, NO PLUGINS PLEASE!

I agree with the need for a pure Javascript solution.
Wth the increasing support for <canvas>, plus the speed of the new Javascript engines, Flash is not necessary.
Just run http://www.chromeexperiments.com/ (on Chrome for decent performance) to see what can be done.

Over the weekend I started a good base for a canvas based ExtJS chart/graph extension. I will try to model it after some of the features in the ExtJS flash charting engine with some additional features.
If there is any community interest than I might be able to devote more time to the project (of course, my career is a time-suck for anything in the "fun" category). Otherwise, I'll just stick with an Ext wrapper for the Emprise Charts that we use now.
Feature idea list:
* PNG, JPEG, SVG export
* 2D/3D charts
* Realtime updates
* Chart animations
* Multiple axis, datasets
* Complete customization of all charts areas

We are looking at using ExtJS charts but we for sure need multiple axis. I'm sure I can't be the only one with a need...and I would love to use EXTJS charts cause they look sweet!
Please let me know if there is any advances on this!
Cheers,
Ash
P.S. I would be willing to pay for the addition of a full suite of charting tools that worked seamlessly with ExtJS

I am all for a js charting system. Have you looked at what Kiyoto has done with flot and extjs?
