My proposal was approved and I will be giving an Ext presentation at "The Ajax Experience" coming up July 25-27th in San Fran. :)

If anyone is going to be at the conference (or the San Francisco area) around that time and would like to meet up please drop me a line. I did attend the conference last year and can say that I found it very technical and informative, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

For more info on the Ext presentation or the conference in general check out the session abstract on the conference site: http://ajaxexperience.techtarget.com/west/html/sessions.html#RWatersExt

Oh yeah, I'd love to go to San Fransisco again. I lived in Sacramento for a few years, and I really love the Bay Area, and the city.

Sadly, my bosses won't send me.

Drink a bottle of Sierra Nevada porter for me!

I would like to add here that recently people from Intel came to our office and were discussing with us about a project they were keen on making.... and I was supposed to tell them about Ext... with whatever little I know, I discussed it with them and gave a very quick ppt and they were completely amazed by this library.... they were using jquery till now.... not to mention we got the project

Nice Manu. Intel would be a nice addition to the non existent "Who's using" list!

It's a year long deal with an assortment of small projects... i'll keep posting the project links on the forum as they get completed (if i am allowed to, that is)

Looks like a good slot, no direct competition from other frameworks :)

It's an exciting prospect.

What do you have in mind to impress them with? Do you you have a really whizzy UI to demonstrate?

(Don't forget to mention Domino in there somewhere, too.)

What? Who said that!?

Seriously, though, cool -- you get to meet Douglas Crockford.

First time poster long time reader. Lame huh? Anyways Jack mentioned the non-existent Who Uses list..Cisco Systems entire Intranet is based on EXTJS as of last week. We started in April with YUI-EXt and last week finished and pushed the EXT changes through. It's amazing what it has allowed us to do. Two of the 4 developers involved with making it available accross the company will be at the Ajax conference in SF. We are looking forward to meeting everyone!

That's great to hear. It's too bad it's internal, I would love to take a look.

@ TAE - Keep an eye of for a tall guy with the huge head - that's me!

I have been working on an application that has a pretty slick UI, though I'm not sure that I could directly show it. I've been thinking I may just whip up a sample application as to avoid any issues.

Seriously, though, cool -- you get to meet Douglas Crockford. Yeah, I met him there last year along with Brenden Eich, and a few other really big names. Definitely an honor to be able to speak at a conference with so many extremely talanted people.

It is a bit pricey, and San Fran certainly isn't cheap... My work luckily pays for a couple conferences of my choosing each year.

@schoterson & jack - we'll definitely have to meet up, once it gets closer I'll see about setting up a day/time for any Ext folk to get together.

You could demo the Ext 2.0 Feed Viewer. That's very impressive.

Great! I actually put down EXT as one of the desired vendors. Are we planning on releasing 2.0 by then?

I would be up for some drinks sometime...I will be down there for 4 days -- traveling from DC.

This is coming up next week... I'll be among the attendees. Is there a time set up for Ext'ers to get together?

Hmm, We haven't set anything yet. I'll be in pretty late on Tuesday night and will be there through Sunday. I think our best bet would either be during the Wednesday night reception or just form our own for Thurs/Friday. I'm open to suggestions for day/time...

Is that true?

It's a pretty big deal when companies use an Open Source product especially when they are customer facing sites/applications. Granted some of these companies may actually be buying a premium support package. If they are not then that can be taken as even more of a compliment. A lot of large companies stay away from Open Source packages and frameworks for a few reasons. Of those reasons the most obvious is that there is no accountability when something breaks. The fact that these major corporations have used the framework says that they trust the quality of the product such that they feel entirely comfortable using it.

The one thing that has become obvious having used it for the past month or so is that it's pretty solid and most of the kinks have been worked out. Every time I have a need to do something (as my project moves forward) Ext seems to have an object or method that takes care of it.

yes its true that the Cisco intranet is based on EXTJS, the rollout started in late april, its not a mandatory upgrade so not every site or page will be using it but the majority of the tier 1 groups are migrating over to it through the rollout of our 3rd generation intranet templates.

I just got into San Francisco for TAE. Post a meeting location here, if you decide on one.

Sounds like the reception tonight may be a bit crowded. I'll look around the hotel and try to find a location for thursday night.

RWaters
25 Jul 2007, 8:37 PM
Alright, it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of options within the hotel, so I guess I'll set things for the Grandview Lounge (the same place where the AOL reception was - floor 36). I was thinking directly following the conference tomorrow would probably be the easiest for most... So around 7:10-7:15 PM Thursday in the front bar (to the right when you walk down).

You are right Rich. I would have liked to have made it upstairs Thursday evening. By the time I got out of my last meeting, everyone was gone. :(

I did get a chance to meet a lot of people though, and I would like to thank everyone who came!

Does anyone know if the presentations and/or videos from this event are online? All I could find were last year's:

Jack,

No, I built kiwidaddy & I use to work for timewarner cable and I built that too :) I have been using your stuff all over the place. It has become my favorite skill, I even made a name for it. "Exting" as in I was Exting the page.

Anyways, I'm a dork.. what can I say.

Glad you liked the links .. Maybe when kiwidaddy is done (Sept 15th) you could put it on the homepage for all to see *winks*

zurik, thanks for hunting those down! Did you just run into them?
