Why should GXT support extjs3?

When you use GXT you dont have to include any javascriptfiles. GXT is standalone. It is written fully in Java.

gxt finally goes to javascript

I want to know the if javascript generated by gxt has same features and same performance with ext?

The javascript generated is different than the one from extjs. However, you can do the same.

This is also good to know from a skinning perspective.

If we have a theme compatible with ExtJS 3.0 - would it also work with GXT 2.0, simply by loading our custom ext-all.css after we load gxt-all.css in the host page?

From my preliminary tests it seems to work. However, is it safe to say that that will be the case with future GXT releases? Will ExtJS/GXT be able to share custom css themes?

GXT has same additional components and there are a few, really a few, structure differences. As long as your custom theme only change the color and is not changing the structure it should work out of the box.

That is only helper javascript. That is not linked to Ext JS 3

They wont work directly. You will need to rewrite them.

There is not really an howto. You will need to write the same javascript lines in Java. should be straight forward.

maybe you write one for the help documents center ;-)

for being straight forward: are then the same functions implemented as in javascript or is there something missing?

is gxt 2.0 equal to extjs 3.0 or to extjs 2.0?

maybe its better to name the packages with the same version numbers so everybody newbie can see that it have the same functionality.

the worst thing is if the 2 libraries are grow in different directions.

They are not equal. The generated JS of gxt is not the same as of Ext JS3
