Just wondered if anyone else got invited to preview Wave or is a beta tester.

Also wondering if there is any EXT wave out there to test it out.

:)

I have created a Wave and added all the people I have invited and have signed up for it.

Add your name (and this forum's name) to the bullet list and reply with whatever you want!

I've had a dev id to the wavesandbox for a while, but it didn't spawn any invites to others that I can find. Where do you see the invites at?

I went to www.googlewave.com (http://wave.google.com) and I was able to login using my normal Google account so basically I have the 2 from the Sanebox and then the 1 that I can use with my Google Account.

Was weird but ok. If you can get in, send me a wave (ms.simoens@googlewave.com) we have a small Ext community going!

My google id doesn't get me in. My ID is deanna.bonds@wavesandbox.com . That must be on a different wave set, it won't let me send you a wave.

I know you can't send a wave from the wavesandbox.com server to the googlewave.com server. I tried that too :) Did you try logging into the googlewave.com server with your normal google account?

I tried, it said my google account wasn't enabled. I requested it to be enabled.

Hopefully Joe can get you an invite. I'd send him a PM with your email as that's what he needs.

Once you are in I can add you to the Ext Community waves we have going. Just gotta let me know you are in by sending me a wave or something to let me know your wave account. Mine is ms.simoens@googlewave.com

Yeah, with an e-mail address, I can add people.

Btw, my name is not joe, it's dutch, pronounced the same way as the russian yuri (as in the name of the first cosmonaut).

Can anybody talk in some detail about the experience with Wave?

aw1zard2

A few people still have invites if you would like to preview it. It is very easy to add EXT components into a wave. We already have a few working in a couple of waves we created.

=)

There is another thread in Examples showing it.

@MiamiCoder: I added you to my invite nomination list in wave.

I have to agree with aw1zard2. It's ridiculously easy to blend ExtJS and waves, and it looks pretty in combination. If you have any experience creating regular google gadgets (iGoogle), it's just as easy. The wave allows you to track the wave's state and participants, and to store additional data in the wave's state (google for the wave gadget API). Very powerful stuff.

@MiamiCoder: actually, the chart code used in the Gadget was directly taken from your ExtJs cookbook, which I downloaded the day before!

Thanks!

Hmm.... well it gets pretty slow at times and is quirky. Features just aren't there and the full potential is not there. I have my own wave server but at this point it's hard as heck to get it talking to other servers which just broke after some code changes they just made.

Yes, it's more a promise of what it will be than an actual realized product. Lots of bugs, slow, many features missing. Still, even today I think it's quite useful for communication. If you've seen the SAP gadget demo, that's some impressive stuff.

I've heard that after the beta, its only going to be available to Google Apps customers anyway. :-?

Read somewhere is an online response from one of the Google Product Managers.

I'll see if I can find it again (don't hold your breath ;) ).

Since it is all open source with a federation protocol, I don't see how they can limit it. Of course their particular server might (Unknown if) be only for google app customers. But anyone else can have a server and it be federated with all the others.

I do not think they are going to keep their servers closed. They are working to open wavesandbox.com server up to those of us who have their own wave servers running.

Interesting developments regarding Wave. Unfortunately I didn't get an invite so what's the verdict so far?

It's ok. Slow and buggy but it's still in it's infancy. Potential is there though

Anyone heard about a max size for a wave? How much data can you store in the state bag?

I've googled it and search some APIs and I couldn't find anything

Hey Greg, what I said during office hours was about right -- blip
contributors plus XML plus annotations can currently total 100K.
Gadget state doesn't have an independent limit, which makes it pretty
hard to predict whether your state pushes are going to succeed.

The total limit is something of an open question, though. If you have
a use case that suggests the limit is too low, submit a feature
request and help convince us.
