Sorting of date column in UIView

We have a view in our lotus web application in which we when we sort the column having date field by ascending or descending order, it is sorted by Text instead of sorting the column by Date.

Can anyone help us to sort the date column by date instead of text ?

Does the date column sort correctly in the Notes Client? If the data in the colum is of type date, then the sorting should work. If you open the view with the ?ReadViewEntries command, is the data wrapped in a 'datetime' element?

Thanks for the reply. Yes the field is of date time format and it is sorted correctly in client as well as using ?ReadViewEntries.
