Individual Word Selection

HI there,
We are relatively new to Apps and stuck on an issue - hope you can help! We are loading external HTML into Sencha-2 carousels and would like to press and hold to select individual words. For example, to bring up a dictionary description.

We can currently select paragraphs, or span elements but individual words within the HTML elude us.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Are you using Sencha Touch 2 or Ext JS 4?

We are using sencha touch 2 to bundle, but all content is in a separate HTML file, and all functionality is in a separate JS(4) file. So we are using the sencha touch 2, touch events and carousels. But all button events, loading of external HTML content into carousels, popups and panels are manually created by our external JS file.

Does this help (I've probably confused things)?
