Well, you certainly found it by yourself: the second one is the correct one and an array is indeed expected.

But it is not a jsonview problem, have a look in the API doc for Ext.data.JsonReader...

    Hi Tim,

I believe there are a few errors.
In the JS code, your reader should look like:

    reader: new Ext.data.JsonReader({ root: 'text' },[ { name: 'tim1'}, {name: 'tim2'}, {name: 'tim3'}]),...
  3. Hi,

are you sure that your "field names" (like data, name, ...) need to be quoted ? I never quote mine and it's seems to work fine for me. Don't see anything else at first glance ...
  4. I don't think there is any. You may also want to search the forum:

    Brian chimes in here:

I believe, JorisA is correct. Use a PropertyGrid. That's what I use too for this kind of display. After all, PropertyGrid is meant to display name/value pairs.

  7. I have got application/json in wireshark too. And it works. Must be something else. If in doubt you can add a after_filter to change the content type in your controller.

I am guessing here but I...
  8. Look at render doc in Rails API. At http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionController/Base.html#M000267 and see what is said about render :json.

On Windows, Araxis Merge is definitely the best.
On a Unix box, you might want to try meld (http://meld.sourceforge.net/) which is very efficient and fairly close to what I remember of Araxis.

    tryanDLS,

thanks for your answer. Good point, I suppose. In my case I sent 200 OK only if everything went well, I send other HTTP codes in case of errors and such, but I understand the reasoning....
  15. Thanks for sharing. I had reached the same point and could not get the resize event to fire when I needed. Your solution on the layout even works very well for me too. Thanks again.

I have been struggling with this all afternoon, though on a Rails based application. My problem was to reflect the change I did in one cell of an EditorGrid and send it back to the server.
