Any plans for a cross platform release?
Any plans for a cross platform release?
From what I can tell, the JS Builder project is currently a Windows-Only project (using C# as the development language). Have you considered porting this to a platform-independent language like Java? That would allow Linux developers to also use JS Builder.
Thanks.

Jack talks briefly about this in the original post (near the end) and why he chose C# over Swing:

Jack will have to answer as to whether or not that's in the cards at some point down the road. Personally, while I've done Java in the past, I never have done much Swing development and wouldn't be much help in that regard.

I hadn't seen the original post (I found it via a link from the ydn-javascript group). So essentially, it was done in C# simply for time constraints.
Would there be any objection to someone taking the existing code and porting it over to Java? I'm can't say that I'll have the time to do it, but if I did, would that be ok? I don't want to rip off anyone's code.
Thanks.

Well, ideally any effort would be coordinated somehow, but I doubt Jack would have any objection. I would opersonally be all for making it cross-platform as long as it continues to move forward. Maybe we can carry on this discussion once Jack gets back in town.

FYI, while this does not address the cross-platforming of JSB, another user has posted some info about getting a Java-based js build hooked up with Ant and Dojo compressor. This info may be helpful to others looking for a non-Windows build solution:
