    Exclamation ToolTips to Buttons

    ToolTips to Buttons

    Hello guys,

    I have a single Ext.Button in a Panel and want to add a tooltip to this button.
    I've tried the following statement without any success:
    {
    xtype: 'button',
    id: 'myID',
    text: 'myText',
    tooltip: 'myTooTip'
    }

    As I've seen from the examples from http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/dev/exa...ets/qtips.html
    should I use a <div> placeholder for my ToolTip?

    Is there any easier and more convenient solution?

    Did you call Ext.QuickTips.init() in the first line of your Ext.onReady function?

    Yes Condor, I've called the above statement

    Is there any issue with my syntax of button?

    No, this should work.

    What happens when you configure the button with tooltipType:'title'?

    Hello Condor,
    Thank you very much again for your suggestion.
    After adding the config-option tooltipType: 'tiltle' tooltip worked!!!
    As I've seen by default tooltipType: 'qtip'.
    Is this a reason to prevent buttons to have a tooltip?

    The default tooltipType:'qtip' should work too as long as you call Ext.QuickTips.init() (are you SURE you did this correctly?).

    Yes Condor, I have a single .js file which starts with
    Ext.onReady(function () {
    Ext.QuickTips.init();
    .
    .
    .
    })

    Is there an online example for button tooltips to have a comparison?

    Code:
    {
         xtype: 'button',
         id: 'myID',
         text: 'myText',
         tooltip: 'myTooTip'
    }
    * is this code running into Ext.onReady ?
    * on your code have you twice id = 'myID' ? (remove id: 'myID' for testing)

    Yes, the above code is running into Ext.onReady.
    The weird thing is that this code works correctly for the buttons which are included in the static loaded .js file, BUT
    for the buttons which are auto-generated from dynamic server-side code (through eval ) they seems to need the config option toolTipType: 'Title'.

    No... that can't be it.

    1. Are you sure your button ids are unique?
    2. Are the created buttons part of the document or inside an (i)frame?
