The (seemingly) extra input appears on top of the original one was created by HTC Sense on the HTC Desire (or similar). It's probably intended by HTC to make typing easier to see, but unfortunately it's much more annoying than good. I haven't found a consistent method to eliminate that behavior since it's outside of browser's control scope.

Okay ;-) when i test today first time on a htc desire it feels more like a bug and not like a HTC feature ;-)

Is there any kind of fix that works at least most of the time? It's hard to explain to clients that it's the phone's fault (or whatever) - they're paying for solutions, not excuses.

    Thanks!

I forgot this thread existed when I posted a similar bug report with some possibly useful insights:
    http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthre...xt-field-focus

In short, it seems like WebView is calculating the wrong distance from the top of the screen to the top of the field: ypos. As I added/removed the elements described in my bug report, the text field would actually be off by a proportionate amount. Removing them altogether "fixed" it, though it's a crude work-around that I'd rather not be concerned with.
