I really like Ext Direct and have used it extensively in some projects. I invested a lot of time and energy building my server side stack in C (for a low spec embedded operating system) to provide device Web UI. I am now interested in Sencha Touch and Ext JS 4 but as yet have not been able to find any concrete information about either of those supporting Ext Direct. It looks like they share a new data model but no mention of Ext Direct is a bit alarming for me...
It is not supported in Sencha Touch and Ext JS 4 is being rewritten a bunch so who knows except the insiders. If it is support in Ext JS 4 then I wouldn't think it would take much to get it working with Sencha Touch as Ext JS 4 is going to follow Sencha Touch in many aspects. This being said from my outsider ears.
Thanks Mitchell. It's good to know that much at least. I couldn't make it to the conference and just waiting for the conference videos to made publicly available. I'm hoping the "Advanced Server Integration with Data and Direct" session from "SenchaCon Videos" sheds some light on the subject. Hearing something official here would be great of course ;-)
My last app I made a Proxy and Reader that works with the code. It doesn't have the same advanced features such as combining calls into one but it works. So you can make it work and the code was actually small.
