    more precise question please!
    - how are you getting a date?
    - what exactly would you like to get?

    when you retreive from server, from the db, you have generally this : 'Y-m-d H:i'.
    for formating in, in Ext, client-side as you wish, try this in your datefield :
    format:'d F Y' // return something like this -> 08 January 2011 or
    format:'d M Y', // return something like this -> 08 Jan 2011
    may this help you ?

    design problem: "when you retrieve from server, from the db, ..."
    persistence can save as timestamp, datetime, date or whatever.
    build a "logic" level in between. call it "service" or whatever...

    think about a presentation layer that just returns your format
    (serverside)

    when it comes to client side: check out Date.js..

    hey ext... sorry for my english... if you understand what I mean and you can explain with a better english... thanks :-)
    i just suppose that on the db there were some simple datetime type used... not timestamp... whatever...
    if stuff can just run ok, that can be enough...
