    Hi,

    I've been used base64 images on my projects and it works pretty good.

    Before:

    Code:
    background: url(../../Green.png);
    After:

    Code:
    background-image: url('data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAIUAAACFC...');
    The point is... Talking about performance. Are there real gains using that approach instead of using images?

    Having base64 encoded images reduces the amount of HTTP requests needed, but it slightly increases the size of an image. More on this on Stack Overflow:
