Default Sencha Touch vs Ext JS

    Sencha Touch vs Ext JS

    Hi guys,

I'm interested in Sencha Touch but am a little confused over how it works with Ext JS.

Are they two separate systems and if so can they work together? Or does Sencha touch expand on Ext JS etc i.e. are normal Ext widgets available from Touch.

I'm a little confused with this point and would be grateful if anyone could clear this up.

    Many thanks

In short: ExtJS is for desktop web apps, Sencha Touch is for mobile web apps.
I also think that sencha touch is an extension of extjs.
    Hope that helps

They are two completely different frameworks. They share some code and same feel of working with them but they are different. Sencha Touch isn't an extension of ExtJS, it was built from the ground up but using some of ExtJS' code. Why reinvent the entire wheel?

"In short: ExtJS is for desktop web apps, Sencha Touch is for mobile web apps."

Yes and no. Sencha Touch is for touch screen devices whether it be mobile devices or touch screen computers (think kiosks).

Why not put multi-touch support into ExtJS and we can use ExtJS for desktop touch monitors / kiosks too and don't have to code one for "desktop" and one for "touch".

    It doesn't make sense.

I would be happy if my app worked on both regular and touch monitors.

Any votes for "Extjs Touch," a framework built for responsive design, that works on both desktop and mobile platforms?
