PieChart - Possible to run conversion function on values for display?

I'm using a piechart that represents monetary amounts. I'm passing the values in as pure numeric, and the chart itself works great - but I'd like the value shown in the tooltip displayed when hovering over the chart to get converted to a proper dollar format.

How could I accomplish that?

I tried doing

dataField: {name: 'myfield', mapping: 'myfield', convert: myJSMoneyFormatFunction}

But for summing up to calculate percentages, I think it can't be done at this point. (it displays NaN and my chart is wrong when I try this)

Any help would be appreciated!
