    Default Ext.plugin.touch.form.Speech

    Ext.plugin.touch.form.Speech

Since Google enabled speech recognition in Chrome v11, thought I would make a plugin to allow any Textfield to use this. This only works on Chrome v11, I have tried on my Android 2.3 phone and iPad2 (kind of figured both of these). It's not the most accurate either but it's decent.

I tried this thing out on a laptop and it works really well when entering in numbers and dates. I am trying to figure how to enter in punctuation. It will enter in dashes for dates (i.e., 2011-03-25), when the user says dash, but it will not enter in colons, if you are, for example, trying to enter in time (i.e., 12:00:00).
I really love this thing and think it is extremely useful do you have any idea if Google is going to make chrome available on mobile devices anytime soon, or if any other browser vendor is going to start including this functionality?

P.S. I am also using some of your other stuff, like the touchgrid. Very nice. keep up the good work

I have no clue. I was hoping that Android devices could use this technology since they have voice recognition at the OS level but no dice (tested on Android 2.3). It has a webkit flag so I'm thinking they are trying to include it into WebKit as a standard but I don't think it will anytime soon. What Chrome does is send your recorded voice to a server and it bounces back the text so with a server involved I don't see WebKit being able to standardize this too well. But as for Android, don't see why Google can't include this.

Thanks for the support! Ext.ux.TouchGridPanel is probably my most active extension so I try to accomodate all requests. Sencha recommended that I change the license from the restrictive GPL v3 to the much more open MIT license so I did that this last week finally.

    Hi Mitchell,
By now the Chrome Browser is available on the iPad :-). Have you had the opportunity to try / test your Speech plugin? Very curious...
