Question Manipulating data from 2 database tables

Manipulating data from 2 database tables

    Hi,

I have just been pointed to ExtJS as a good candidate for a project I'm on, but there is too much information to get an overview of where to get started. I hope someone here can help me.

I have a database table (mysql) with millions of rows and a table for classifying the rows (with a table keeping track of relations between records in each). It's like a table with posts and one with tags, and a post_tags table.

I need a way to display a grid with data from the posts table and all the tags each post has, in each grid row. I need to be able to add/delete tags for each post, but I also need to be able mark all of the results in a search (query) and tag them.

I hope this makes sense and that I'm asking the question in the right place. I would really be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks,
    Calle

The best alternative that suits my needs is to follow a tutorial like http://superdit.com/2010/07/10/crud-...s-grid-part-1/ and adapt for tagging multiple rows instead of editing users. Any other suggestions are very welcome.

Roughly 10-20 tags per item, on average. On the whole, it would probably range from 0 to 50, but the vast majority would have no more than 20 tags.

How do you envision it being displayed?

Need to get an idea as there are various possibilities and there's no point someone on here assisting with a solution if it's not what you want.

I see it as a table of rows with the fields for each item, with one field being a comma-separated list of tags.
