Urgh. Stuck at level 1 :( *newbie alert*

Ok, used the designer to create a grid, and a data store in a project. Exported the project, got the following three files:

    MyStore.js
    MyGridui.js
    MyGrid.js

what is the html required to display this grid in a web browser ? I feel like a 10 year old learning assembler. (again)

    Thanks

You need a basic web page that includes:

    1) ext css (extroot/resources/css/ext-all.css)
    2) ext js (easiest way is extroot/ext-all.js)
    3) script tag using xds_index.js as its source. This should cause the grid to render to the document body

Understand that Ext.Designer for 4.0 is not released, so buyer beware.

You can get a start with:

    PHP Code:
    <html>
     <
    head>
      <
    title>Demo</title>
      <
    link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" id="extcss" href="your-ext-root/resources/css/ext-all.css" />
     </
    head>
    <
    body>
    </
    body>
    <
    script type="text/javascript" src="your-ext-root/ext-all.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="xds_index.js"></script>
    </html>

thanks very much ! Once I'd found xds_index.js and the .html code, things started looking up That was a great help, thanks again.

However, I'm sure that I will be asking lots and lots of questions as I battle with this assembler ^h^h^hjavascript language and ExtJS

What would be *really* useful as well as all of the samples, if there was a nice simple tutorial (using ExtJs 4) of how to put together a simple crud application, with grids, paginated toolbars, edit forms etc. Or have I just not looked well enough ?

    Thanks.

    ok, now I have

    http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-3.3.1/

in my extjs path of the designer. Two questions:

    1) Why 3.3.1 - aren't we on 4.x now ?
    2) what if I want to not have to go out to the internet to get these files, and just want to use files from the local system ? What path do I put in here ? "/extjs" ?

Thing is, I can't find the adapter directory in the extjs directory. Is the designer running in v3 mode ?

    1) It's probably pointing to 3.3.1 because Designer has not been released for Ext JS 4.0 yet.
    2) You're welcome to use files from the local system, for the src on the <script> tag, just specify an absolute path (if you have one) or a path relative to the page that's loading it, so if your page is in X.html and Ext JS is in an extjs folder below it, your src would be "extjs/ext-all.js" (oh, and "extjs/adapter/ext/ext-base.js" before that for the base - not needed in 4.0)

As for examples (CRUD, toolbars, editable forms), I would refer you to the examples page. If you have a local web server with Ext JS on it, you can browse to http://localhost/yoursite/extjs and refer to the examples from there.

Good luck - it's a learning curve, but well worth it!

I tried the localhost settings - but I think the problem is that I am using the designer to develop the screens - v3 apparently - (when is v4 out ??) and the cachefly references are using c3, but the extjs code I have downloaded is v4

    so, the following line

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-3.3.1/adapter/ext/ext-base.js"></script>

does not have a match in the downloaded ExtJS 4 directory (there is no adapter folder)

    what a mess

There's no adapter folder in Ext 4 because there is no adapter - ext-all.js is all you need if you're looking to do this in 4.0.

yeah, but as I said, I think because I'm using the designer, it seems to be that if I use ExtJS 4.0 on *my* server, my form craps out.

I think that the designer requires that I use 3.3.1. Which is a real pita especially for a newbie
