Can I use ExtJS library freely in my commercial products
Can I use ExtJS library freely in my commercial products
I have read the GPLV3 licencing aggrement and still confused whether its possible to use ExtJs freely under GNU-GPLV3 licence for commercial web applications?
If yes, then how i use GNU-GPLV3 licence ?
Can anybody simply explain, is it possible to use ExtJS freely for commercial web applications under any licence ?
Sencha is an avid supporter of open source software. Our open source license is the appropriate option if you are creating an open source application under a license compatible with the GNU GPL license v3. Although the GPLv3 has many terms, the most important is that you must provide the source code of your application to your users so they can be free to modify your application for their own needs.
Thanks for replying.
can u please clarify further,
I have read this paragraph from Sencha site already. If i provide the source code to my application users, then it means i can use ExtJS freely ? But as you know, ExtJS is a client side code, anybody can view our web application code, then what is the meaning of providing code to end user ?. Second thing is, normally the end users are not able to understand the code and logic, they are just users of the application. what they do with the code ?
Like you, I'm just an ExtJs user, so I can't speak on their behalf; however, I think the licensing pretty clearly states that if your app is "Open Source" and abides by the GPL, you must supply your entire application codebase to your users.
If your application is Commercial/Closed Source, then you need to buy a license.
So, is your application clearly identified as "Open Source" and that is uses the GPL v3 license? If you can answer 'yes' to both these questions, then you can use ExtJs gratis...
