    Default Default Images For Widgets?

    Default Images For Widgets?

    So, in testing out ExtJS4, here's something not obvious to me.

    Using this demo as guidance, I'm assuming that when I insert a grid and a paging bar into a page, via bbar or via dockedItems, the framework picks up the buttons from somewhere.

    Given that I don't see some sort of declaration of a global image path or anything of the sort, where does ExtJS4 go to get button images? The css doesn't seem to have any paths. The paging.js doesn't too. Where is this defined? Are there default paths built into the widgets? What if I want to override it at a global level? What is the filename even supposed to be?

    Get firebug and save some time

    Use Firebug in Firefox and save some time.

    Open Firebug, click the inspect button, click on the button on the paging bar, take a look at the Style panel:

    Code:
    .x-tbar-page-next {
           background-image: url("../../resources/themes/images/default/grid/page-next.gif") !important;
    }
    It's defined in ext-all.css.

    So now I've answered the question you asked, what are you actually trying to do? Change the images used for the buttons?

    Actually, I ended up passing ext-all.css through a prettifier to allow me to edit the link.

    What I am trying to do is:
    a) find out where ExtJS thinks they are by default,
    b) change the link so that it can be somewhere else, to fit my project structure, and
    c) ask if there's a way to manage this in some way that I don't have to remember to retrace a) and b) every time I update ExtJS.

    I wouldn't muck about with the ExtJS file structure - you're just making work for yourself. Are you trying to hide the fact that you're using ExtJS? If you want to define your own button faces then surely the cls properties with your own stylesheet will do what you want? I haven't tried this - may do later if I get time.

    No. I am retrofitting some ExtJS widgets, not building a greenfield ExtJS-based app, into sections of an existing classic ASP app. There are /scripts, /css and /image folders already and I want to adhere and not muck with the existing structure and make it such that others can maintain things without much confusion.

    How would you programmatically override the image path via CSS config settings on a button-by-button basis?

    If it was me doing this I'd just copy the directories to where I wanted them and then softlink from the original location to the new location (at least then you wouldn't need to change any css), or consider rewriting the whole app in ExtJS

    The only other way would be to take the classes required in the applet into a new file and override the background property to point to the right location. I'd try to avoid modifying ext-all.css itself.
