Toolbox won't collapse in code-view
Toolbox won't collapse in code-view
Designer version tested:- Designer 1.2.1 rev 27
- WinXP Pro
- Win7
- Ext JS 4.x
- The toolbox should be available (not masked) even while in code-view mode.
- If toolbox is not collapsed when entering code-view mode, the toolbox is masked.
- Otherwise, the toolbox is expandable but remains masked when expanded.
- n/a
Steps to reproduce the problem:- Open Designer with either ExtJs 3.3.x or 4.0.x project.
- Add a window to the canvas
- Collapse the toolbox
- Change to code-view mode
- Either click or expand the toolbox while in code-view mode
- the Code-view panel sits on-top of the toolbox and nothing is selectable
- Return to Design-view mode
- toolbox should be visible and selectable regardless of design/code view mode.
- toolbox becomes masked and unusable.
- n/a
- none

Perfection as a goal is a nice idea that can point one in a specific direction. However, since "perfection" is an ever changing (evolving?) and moving target, one must admit that perfection can never be obtained...
When in doubt, check the d4mn source code!

This is by design. I agree that it would be good if you could collapse/expand the panel while you are in the code view however you will NOT be able to interact with the components in the toolbox.

Why not?
I find the code view helps to ensure that I didn't forget any property needed for the component I'm designing. Especially, when I'm migrating from an older 3.x project created with Designer. I would open the old project and the new one in code-view before proceeding to migrate. I typically drag components to the component panel and rarely drop them on the canvas.
So, why not allow the toolbox interaction while in code-view? Otherwise, you should not show the toolbox at all when in code view mode.Perfection as a goal is a nice idea that can point one in a specific direction.
