Question Unanswered: disable/catch swipe event for a panel

Unanswered: disable/catch swipe event for a panel

Another question for you all- I've got a div being loaded in through contentEl with a slideshow in it that uses swipe motions to change images. The panel it's being loaded into however, is part of a carousel and the swipes begin to get confused on tablet devices and both try to scroll at once, which naturally makes things stop working or look bad.
Is there a way to catch the swipe/drag event for a panel and stop it while the slideshow is the component being touched? Possibly through "onMouseDown" then "onMouseUp" events through the slideshow or something?

    Much appreciated everyone!

There will always be conflicting events being fired and it will be a struggle for the components to figure out who is suppose to get the event.
